lovely layers
With each simple quilt that I complete, I am more and more smitten with simplicity. Now if that simplicity could translate into my daily life, that would be something. This quilt is easy to make-about as easy as they come. And of course, I used my stand by-stippling-to complete it.
I used a solid yellow to back this quilt (it's what I had on hand), so I wanted to make sure that the binding packed a punch. I love the effect. I ordered the binding fabric from Cia's Palette, which I would highly recommend. Last time I ordered, I received my fabric the very next day. The thing about the binding fabric, Amy Butler full moon dots, is that it has a decidedly yellow tint, which makes it difficult to blend in some projects, but it is perfect for this one.
This quilt measures 41" x 56".
Anyone have a name suggestion for this one?

For those of you who had questions about the Toyko's Triangle quilt, I added an edit to the previous post with a link to the flying geese tutorial that I am using.

It is so beautiful, the colors remind me of sherbert :-) And that would make anyone happy, I think!
pretty!
autumn sunshine.
No idea for a name but have to say that I love this quilt! It's beautiful in it's simplicity.
What a lovely combination....watermelon lemonade?
it looks like a parfait to me...
The layers remind me of a trifle. My sister just emailed me a recipe for a Strawberry Banana Trifle and that's what your quilt reminds me of. (But didn't you recently have a "trifle" quilt?)
This quilt & the name of the binding made me think of early morning when I'm out rowing and the sun is just coming up in pale reds & yellows, but the moon still sits in the pale morning sky -- full moon at dawn.
Oh it's so beautiful! Simple and modern and really lovely.
Beautiful :)
What do you do with all of the quilts you create? I envision piles and piles of quilts around your home!
Love the stripes. stripes and polka dots are my weakness!! I really love how the dots look as binding.
beautiful! and I love cia's palette too!
Such a pretty quilt. I would call it Strawberry Lemonade.
I love simplicity too. It shows the fabrics to the best advantage. And I'm all about the fabric. I love big dots for binding. So cute. This quilt is really very nice. It just goes to show you that you don't have to have triangles to make a nice quilt.
Love the simpleness of this quilt, and the binding is awesome! If I had to suggest a name, I think it would be Lemon Layer Cake...
I too am curious as to what you do with all your creations? Gifts? Sell?
Happy stitchings! 8-)
I'm so bad at names, but it is a wonderful quilt. I know I repeat myself, but you are such an inspiration!
So pretty! It looks like a banana split with strawberry syrup.
AmandaJean, you amaze me. I wish I had your focus...and your ability to actually finish things!
This quilt is beautiful -- reminds me of all of the above: trifle, parfait, lemon cake, watermelon...and suddenly, I'm very hungry!
It is beautiful!! The first thing that came to my mind was lemonade of some sort. Ruthie said strawberry lemonade, possibly even raspberry lemonade or how about Gelato!
Maybe because I'm pregnant and everything reminds me of food... but this one reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake or Strawberry Lemonade. You have such a creative eye for putting unique colors together!
"Strawberry Lemonade" comes to mind first, followed by "Raspberry Lemonade". I scanned the other comments and saw some other Strawberry and Lemon related name ideas. :D
Very pretty. Reminds me of a banana split with all of the layers of yummies.
How about, "The Simple Life", sence that is what it made you think of.
Look at my give away at

Great quilt. Your style inspired one of my latest quilts. As for a name- the first thing I thought of when I saw it was Layerd Dessert Trifle. YUM!!! ~jen~
Gee. . . with the yellow I immediately thought of Butterscotch & Cherries!
Really pretty quilt.
i like this quilt, the colours in it! Very pretty!
Love the simplicity of this quilt and the stippling is perfect for it.
Poppies in Sunshine...
It was the first thing to enter my mind.
Just lovely
Lovely quilt.
'Layers' reminds me of Donkey and Shrek talking about the fact that Shrek is like an onion 'cause he has layers and Donkey says since not everyone likes onions, how about 'parfait'? So, how about 'Simply Parfait'? :)
This looks like the perfect quilt to use outdoors - I would call it Sunset.
so easy and so nice! I just finished one like this too! good to practice my machine quilting on! nice job! great of using up those scraps too!
I've recently found your site & it's so fun! You're inspiring me to add to my 1 quilt I've made... :)
I think the yellow reminds me of Fall & the red of Love so I would call it "Fall in Love"
OK, this is random but ...
the image reminded me of those sand art bottles that we used to get at carnivals and stuff. you know, where you fill a bottle with varying layers of colored sand (and then put it on your dresser where it collects dust until you finally get rid of it in high school? not that i did that. i'm just sayin'...).
so maybe "sand art", "colored sand art", "sand art simplicity", or some other variation?
ooh, ooh ... or these rainbow cookies which were my absolute favorite growing up in new york ...

um, cherry pie? strawberry shortcake?
{can you tell i have food on the brain?}
it's beautiful!
McDonald's. :) I want to quilt. I want to go to Perham to buy fabric. I want to make a red, yellow and white quilt with a bit of blue.
the horizontal layers remind me of a trifle.....and as I look up, i see many others went straight to food for name suggestions. Are we all hungry, or are desserts just so great that we try to incorperate them into other aspects of life?? I think it's the latter. good luck! :)
again, my friend, simply marvelous. It's beautiful!!
Beautiful in it’s simplicity!!
Indian Vanilla Summer!!
I like the name Banana Stripe.
What color do you use to quilt it?
Since it is a simple striped quilt and it made you so happy that it was a simple project, I suggest Happy Stripes. : )
I love this quilt! It reminded me of raspberry lemon bars.
Once I get more de-stashing done I'll shop for fabrics to try with this "simplicity" method.
Gorgeous, as always! I was going to suggest a name with sunrise or sunset in it, but after a brief perusal of your name suggestions -- I love raspberry lemon bars!
I love this quit too. I love the stripes and polka dots combo. My first thought for a name for it was custard, so maybe berry or vanilla custard? It definitely has a custard-y look to it, especially with the solid yellow back! Love it!
raspberry sunrise
lemon sunrise
Just gorgeous..... I love the simplicity of it too.
just lovely! It radiates warmth :)
yep another awesome quilt, you sure are clever. Love the simplicity, gotta get me that Denyse Schmidt Book. What about Sunrise/Sunset for the name as the colours remind me of either.
Happy Stitching
It is beautiful! I love those colors. I know this is crazy but all I could think of is scrambled eggs and ketchup or Ronald McDonald when I look at the colors! I must be hungry!
lovely...i'm with you on simplicity. i think that might be a nice name too.
It looks like a perfect sunset and since it's autumn right now, I think you should call it Autumn Sunset! I love this quilt - thanks for sharing it with us :)
Kelly
That looks fantastic, the colours are so warm. I love the stippled quilting - I think I might need to take a class so that I can do more than just quilt a (not very) straight line!
Its beautiful... reminds me of sherbert... so how about sherbert sunrise
I love the quilt! I know you said it wasn't your favorite when you first posted about it, but I think it turned out beautiful. It actually reminds me of my favorite beach towel that I had when I was a kid! My sisters and I used to fight over it because it was prettier (a.k.a. newer) than the others we had. I'd sneak into the laundry room before heading out and steal it before my sisters could! I know! I was an awful little girl! Anyway...
For a name, I suggest "Beach Baby".
For a name, Spots N Dots or Where's Spotz
Oh the quilt looks so beautiful. It's really true that less is more and you have achieved it in this quilt. The colors make the quilt. LOVE IT!Love it!! Love it!!!
Boy, I've been so busy that I'm way behind times. When I return form our weekend holiday, I will spend a whole day just catching up. I took a quick peek of ast posts, can't wait to read them.
~~Fran :c)
Your quilt is great as usual, and proves that it doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful. :)
I hope that you have come up with a name from all the suggestions - it cracks me up that there are so many related to food!
Love the quilt, and love all of your ideas, creativity and talent. My suggestion for a name......... Banana Split.
I love simple quilts like this one! How about Strawberry Fields for a name?
Another gorgeous creation. My immediate thought was 'Summer Sunrise'.
I love, love, love the simplicity of all your quilts. They are just stunning. I read all the comments and boy did everyone suggest food names! Got me hungry. I really liked some of them, but to me it reminds me of my favorite...New York Strawberry Cheesecake! Yummy like your quilt.
I love the colors in this! It's gorgeous!
You are such a quilting inspiration. One day I hope to be half as fabulous as you at quiting!
Is "Simple Stripes" to simplistic?
Pink Lemonade grabbed me right away! I love, love, love your blog!
Thanks!
Brandy
Sunset Strip
Dots all aoround - love it!
Simple horizons
Summer horizons
blazing horizons
It is beautiful!

What a lovely quilt! I too love the simplicity of it. And the colors work so well together. I'm awful at naming my own quilts, so I don't think I should even try to suggest something for you!
It's beautiful, regardless of what name you give it! My thoughts went to "Moonbeam" or "Limestone Strata". My husband is better at the names than I! :)
The whole quilt is a beauty but you are right, the binding just makes it soooo much more.
How about "Sublime" (meaning Majestic, awakening feelings of awe or veneration) --Webster Dictionary. :-P
I love that binding! i like the solid yellow back too! beautiful. I like the name that someone else choose...poppies in sunshine, and autumn sunshine.
Another beautiful quilt ~ just how do you do it?
how about 'lemon strawberry strata'? love the polka dot binding :) too cool!
anonymous,
I used cream colored thread to quilt it.
aj
cab,
I do have piles and piles of quilts all around my home. I keep most of them in a quilt cupboard most of the time. They get rotated fairly often, especially the lap quilts. And i give some quilts as gifts and I am planning on donating some to charity.

So, I'm with the food people. I'm thinking cherry cheesecake. I love the wrapping paper quilts. They're so simple and look so great. I appreciate your site. I'm a complicated quilter, and I love some of your simple ideas. I could sure stand to go a little faster and use up some of my stash. Thanks for the inspiration.

Okay. I just read my post, and I didn't mean to say that I'M complicated, just that I end up choosing more complicated quilts quite often. Ha ha.
It may be simple, but it is also adorable.
When you said "layers" I thought of an add we used to have here in Oz...it was for Sara Lee Cheesecake and it sticks in my head because they described it as "layer upon layer upon layer". LOL...hugs Khris in Oz
Love it.
I am inspired to stop blogging and start stitching up my stash!
Happy Stitching.
I love the stripes... and a great way to "use what you have". I've been trying to think of ways to do that, I have so much!
I love that you're so into the simple designs. You know that they're my favorite of yours.
Now... about names. A quick few:
