Today's quilt is called Little Bits and the pattern is in
this book. I used solids for both the brown and the blue. I liked working on this one an awful lot. Quick, easy and super cute. I do wish that I would have gotten the little bits spread out a bit more...they are kind of bunchy.
Thanks for all the sweet comments on my log cabin quilt yesterday. Now, just to clarify, I made the tops for the
plain spoken and the
log cabin quilts before I started baby quilt week. (I don't work THAT fast.) The remainder of the quilts I have started just this week, but they came together fast because they are pretty simple. Sorry if I misled any of you, that certainly wasn't my intention.
glad you clarified...i was just about to do a post on amandajean the bionic quilter.
ReplyDeleteYou are making me want to start another "little bits quilt". Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteHow are you going to quilt these simpler ones?
ReplyDeleteIts nice to see quilts that just say "boy" because I know many of the ones I make only say "girl". Great little brown & blue. ~jen~
ReplyDeleteThat's really cute! I love the simplicity of it too :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteWhew! I'm so relieved that you haven't been completely neglecting your family LOL! Love your baby quilts -- esp. that log cabin from yesterday. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteagain. Love. it. Love the simplicity of it. Can't wait to see how you quilt it.
ReplyDeletewell I would have believed it... as you are so prolific in your quilting :) I love the simplicity of the quilt too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt... can you tell us how you feel about the instructions in the linked book. The reviews on Amazon say the instructions aren't that great. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice! Love the colors. And now I know why it seemed like you were the fastest quilt top maker in the world! Not that you aren't incredibly fast and prolific! You're inspiring... I need to go get started on my next quilt!
ReplyDeletei have loved this pattern since i saw it in the book. yours is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI like this one, too!
ReplyDeleteFunny, because I never even thought that it was weird that you made them all this week! You're just amazing like that! And I LOVE the simplicity of this quit. The little bits are just so sweet!
ReplyDeletehannah,
ReplyDeleteI am still thinking about how I am going to quilt these simpler ones. for the yellow, blue, green stripe one I will probably stipple it. for this one I may do vertical stripes like in the book. it kind of scares me, but I really like the finished result, so I may give it a shot anyway.

ginger,
ReplyDeleteI thought the instructions in the book were ok. i am not one to follow patterns or instructions, so I may not be the best one to ask. when I quilt, I usually get inspriation and then run with it rather than following the instructions step by step.

So I broke my no-computer plan to see what quilt you'd be posting today. Very cute. I love the direction you took with several of these - they're so my minimalist style.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I like the modern spin you've put on the last couple of quilt tops.
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous! It works well with the solids?! It looks good in the picture ;-) This is on my to-do list, I think it just got bumped up a few places!
ReplyDeleteI like the placement of the little blocks, they don't look bunched up to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun quilt. Your's look wonderful! I've been meaning to try this for a picnic quilt. Probably by next summer :-)
ReplyDeleteThis one is so lovely! Great colors!
ReplyDeleteOoh the little bright bits look like chicklets(those tiny square chewing gum things in case you don't know). How adorable! Love the brown, btw.

tine,
ReplyDeleteI think this quilt works very well with solids. :) Solid fabrics were all I had in this color scheme in my stash, so that's what I used.

I love this top! That last minute patchwork book is my most underutilized craft book. I really need to pull it out and use it more!
ReplyDeleteWhat was your finished size? Did you make it big like the pattern? Great work - I'm excited to make one of those now :)
ReplyDeleteblabby,
ReplyDeletethe top is about 45 x 60. smaller than the pattern in the book, but worked well with one width of fabric (selvedge to selvedge).
