I've been busy working on the next quilt along. This time I am trying to get the top done before posting the instructions. I have 2 more stars to make, then I need to assemble all the pieces.
As promised, it's a bunch of stars...
with some setting blocks (I think that's what they are called) and some
sashing.
We start on Monday.
That is going to be absolutely beautiful! I really need to find a place to learn how to machine quilt. I've only ever quilted by hand, and that's stopping me from quilting now, because I just don't have the time to do it. Any suggestions? I get quilt envy every time I read your blog, so I need to get cracking!
ReplyDeletecan't resist waiting till monday :)
ReplyDeleteplease, count me in.
very nice. I liked seeing your blue prints.
ReplyDeleteOooohhh so pretty. I LOVE star quilts. I'll have to play along this time for sure!
ReplyDeleteYep, those are setting blocks & the secondary design that they are creating is great.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! This will be perfect for that stash of reds that I picked up a while back. I have been trying to come up with something/pattern to make it work and this looks like just the ticket. Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful!! Probably should finish the last one before starting this one, huh? :)
ReplyDeletejuli,
ReplyDeleteI would recommend taking a machine quilting class. that would be a great start. and start practicing on smaller sized quilts until you build up your confidence. good luck!
amandajean
Oh this is going to be so neat! When I took the quilt class last fall, the instructor had a quilt of stars and I thougth that was something I would love to do. I am so glad I will get a chance to do it with all of you. Count me in.
ReplyDeleteThat's gonna be another pretty one, Amandajean.
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteYay! I am so excited, off to pick out fabric!
ReplyDeletevery cute! I really like these traditional red/white or pink/white star blocks
ReplyDeletei can't wait!
ReplyDelete:)
I'm so excited to join in with this one. I love stars. Please add me to the list.
ReplyDeleteOh so excited for monday!
ReplyDeleteOK - count me in - ACK. I need to finish my original quilt along quilt. And the baby quilt for my old boss, and the baby quilt for my best friend, and the dashiki quilt for my partner, and pants for my child, and, and and....
ReplyDeleteHeh - so what's one more, right? ;)
please count me in, I have probably finished the last quiltalong top til monday, just adding the last border strip. :)
ReplyDeleteI will choose red and blue fabrics for a stars and stripes quilt.
Please count me in. I missed out on doing the last one with all of you and can hardly wait to start this one. Hmmm today is my bday, so maybe a trip to the quilt store for some fabrics for this. Thanks for hosting this. Frieda sheknitsallday.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI just may have to try this one. I'm not doing much quilting because knitting has become such an obsession, but with summer coming.... this is looking pretty delicious!
ReplyDeletecount me in on Monday with maybe blues, yellow and white!
I've only just discovered your blog and your first quilt-a-long, so I'm gonna give that a go first (I'm a quilting novice)
ReplyDeletethis looks so fun, can anyone join? I'd love to be added to the list if so!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm in. This is going to be so much fun again. If I work like a dog I might have the first one done by Monday. I'm praying for rain! Now...fabric...which fabric?
ReplyDeleteIt looks so good, I might even get over my triangle fear.
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! Can't wait until Monday. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Amandajean! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMonday, monday
So good to me!
A trip to buy (more) fabric appears to be in order... I can't wait! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOoo... that looks fun!
ReplyDeleteWahoo! I've been looking forward to this, Amandajean. I think I'll get my fabric choices figured out in anticipation.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Now I have to look for some more fabric when I go to Paducah today...darn it, smiling!! I love STARS!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Traci
I have way too many irons in the fire, but I am sure tempted to try this Quilt Along. Let's see what I get done this weekend - see how many things I can cross off my list! Sure looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteyou are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have half the world quilting:)
Oh, my neighbor just had a baby girl, and guess what they named her? Amanda jean :)
This looks absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to start. Do you have any idea on the fabric requirements in terms of yardage? I want to use this as an excuse to buy more fabric and want to make sure I get enough!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, geez. I have to do this one. Even though triangles give me hives. Seriously. I can never do them perfect enough to suit me.
ReplyDeleteOh I like it - count me in for this one - guess I'd better go to the store for fabric:)
ReplyDeleteKris
I would LOVE to play along, but I have soo many other projects to finish. Perhaps I could try anyway even if I have to lag behind. Count me in!
ReplyDeleteOh can hardly wait! I am thinking black and white for me:) or red and white or navy and white....must go and visit my fabric!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! ARGH! I just don't have the time! Are you going to leave the links in your sidebar?
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely, but I think I will sit this one out, seeing as I haven't finished the first one yet, LOL
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo!!! I have been so excited to start this one! :) THe fact that you put so much time & effort into this thing ... thank-you! :) Now I just need to go find some more fat quarters to start with! :)
ReplyDeletejen,
ReplyDeleteI don't really keep track of the yardage, but for the background fabric I think 6-7 yards should be enough. (I'm hoping that would be enough.) you see, I bought 13 yards of this background, and I am using it for a few quilts at a time.
amandajean
The thoughts and planning you do is amazing. Thanks ahead of time for all the work you put into these quilts. I'm looking forward to this quiltalong...the last one was great. Now----what colors?
ReplyDeleteThis will keep me thinking until you are ready for us to join.
I am playing this time!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just finishing the border on the first one, but this looks great. I'm thinking blue and yellow's, but second guessing myself with darker greens and cream.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this one. Thanks a bunch.
Count me in, too!
ReplyDeleteWhoa this is going to be cool. To the person who said darker green and cream it's a great color combo.
ReplyDeleteDo you think a charm pack would be enough for the colored part of the stars? If so, I think I've already got quite of bit of the fabric!
ReplyDeleteI've just found your blog. I love quilting! I've never tried triangles. I would love to join the quilt-along! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteoh heres a link if you like

blondie,
ReplyDeleteI think you will need more than a charm pack for these squares. fat quarters and fat eighths work well, as do fabrics from the stash.
amandajean
Oh! I am so excited you are doing another one! I missed the last one, and never quite got caught up! Yay for a quilt a long, count me in!
ReplyDeletei love these colors! maybe, just maybe i will jumo in here, but this one looks too hard for a rookie!
ReplyDeletewow, it's looking beautiful with the setting blocks. Please count me in. I'm also planning to finish the previous blocks along with this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for organizing this quilt-a-long :o) Really appreciate your time and efforts.
I've been a sewing-slacker lately. This is just the pick-me-up that I needed! Any ideas/tips for picking out the fabric?? I'm a little OCD, so I like things to "mesh" well ;)
ReplyDeleteWoooo Hoooo! I can't wait to see what we're doing on Monday!!!! I'm gonna go pick out fabrics now... no, wait... I'm gonna finish up my top for the first one tonight before I start looking at fabrics! Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to start the week.
ReplyDeleteoooohhhh
ReplyDeleteI am so excited...I can't wait. it looks like a gorgeous quilt.

ReplyDeleteStars are my favourite block so i am in !
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the moment has finally come. I want to make the stars quilt for my dad. Haven't got the fabric yet, minor detail, hey! I started the quilt-a-long late so I am not worried about having to catch up on the stars too.
ReplyDeleteJodie

ReplyDeleteAmandajean ~ this is simply beautiful and I'll be making it as a wallhanging for our medium dusky lavender bedroom with shades of lavender and plumbs. Thanks for doing this for us!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Karen
I'm going to give this one a try. Now it's just a matter of picking out colours and making sure I have enough background fabric.
ReplyDeleteah, i think i'm going to have to join. I'm midway through your other one - working on 1 a day. Maybe i can pull off both.
