(only half the quilt is shown, and binding still needs to be added)
We saw a quilt in a quilt shop made with similar fabrics and we both fell in love with it. We picked out some fabrics, she pieced the top and I quilted it. (In exchange for some lovely fabric, I must add. Gotta feed that addiction somehow.)
The pattern is Happy Hour by Atkinson Designs. The quilt on the cover of the book isn't much to look at, but the pattern is fantastic. The blocks are 14.5" finished, so the piecing is very quick.
I have also seen this quilt done in Heather Bailey's freshcut fabrics and it was quite lovely as well.
I am anxious to start one of these myself. It is near the top of my list. (oh, you should see my list...)
oh, fun to find you...and how timely considering i have been trying to quilt again..wow, i wish i would have paid more attention to my mom's work when i was little...
ReplyDeleteeager to check in again.
I love this!!! When I finish my 4 quilting WIP's I think this will jump to the top of the list!!
ReplyDeleteCrazy mad gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics, the colours and the pattern and the quilting is wonderful! (Hand?) I would like to know what your favourite batting is to use. This one looks really thin?
ReplyDeletei'd like to see your list. i have a feeling i might feel a bit better about mine. wink wink.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel better I had a list before I could even sew. The trick was sneaking them into my mom's list :)
ReplyDeleteDo you quilt that in sections on your regular machine or do you have a quilting machine or frame?
ReplyDelete(It's wonderful by the way)
It's always interesting to me how different fabric choices can make the same quilt pattern look so different. I saw a grandmothers flower garden (here?) done in really vibrant colors and it was hardly recognizable as the same pattern I am so used to!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteOh I am sure your list is pretty long :)
oh, i am loving this!
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt!! The color choices are gorgeous! I might have to add this to my list as well!
ReplyDeleteVery well done!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!
ReplyDeletewhat fabric line is that? :-)

ReplyDeleteThat is too cute! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful teacher you are!
ReplyDelete(When I first saw your post title, I read it as "guilt". Hmmm...there must be something in my sub-conscious)
Wow - nice job Heather! I love that pattern! It looks really cute with the fabric she chose, but has endless possibilities. Oh, and amazing quilting as always! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and that's great for a student. I love quilts and they are my passion. I'm making one now that I just love. will post it when it's finished.

ReplyDeleteWay to go, Heather! Great choice in pattern and fabrics. Your quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAmandajean, you are amazing. Somehow you stitch up beautiful quilts like magic and you also take time to teach the art to others. Wow. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh it looks wonderful! Great job Heather! (I so want to see how long your list is now:)
ReplyDeleteTell Heather I like it...the colors especially.
ReplyDeleteI am officially jealous of Heather. To get quilting lessons from the master - how lucky! The quilt you two made is stunning - that pattern is totally my taste. Beautiful.
