I finished my economy block quilt top this morning!
This will be for my oldest brother.
He's my only sibling that hasn't gotten a quilt from me yet.
(The other 5 have.)
I love the moody color scheme.
It's so appropriate for this time of year.
I made 88 blocks for an 8 x 11 layout.
It measures 66" x 91".
You can find the measurements for the blocks here, if you'd like.
Happy Wednesday!
xo

ReplyDeleteI love those economy blocks!
I have a huge trash bag full of men's dress shirts I got for $1. I have washed them and plan on cutting them up to use for a 'masculine' quilt. I think I just found the pattern I am going to use with this economy block.
ReplyDeleteI love how you have used a limited colour palette! Perfect!
ReplyDeletehandsome!
ReplyDeletevery nice -- I know he will love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! I'm coming out of lurkdom because I am so taken with this quilt! You always have such a knack for colors - you are constantly an inspiration to me. I made this pattern many years ago in different colors and it looks so completly different from yours. I daresay I like yours better! Thanks for all the ideas, inspiration and motivation! Okay - back to lurkdom! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat colour scheme. I can see myself giving in and making a few of these blocks soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the way this turned out. The colors are great!
ReplyDeleteVery handsome, a perfect quilt for a man.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, this is absolutely gorgeous. The greys are wonderful in it - the mood, as you say, is not dark, though. It is richness itself! Very nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the measurements; I might make one someday!
Best,
Candice
A beautiful quilt and a lucky brother!
ReplyDeleteThe blocks work so well with this manly colour scheme! Great gift and it looks amazing in the snow!
ReplyDeleteI really adore this colour combination. I have been wanting to do one with my novelty fabrics but I love the neutrality of yours. I hope your brother loves it as much as your readers do.
ReplyDeleteLove this! seriously so masculine! Nice job. I always say this don't I, well I really mean it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! I bought Sunday Morning Quilts last Thursday and since then have been dreaming scrappy patchwork - and reading the last couple of years of your blog on my kindle late into the night! Thank you for reigniting my passion for sewing - it has been dormant for too long! I'm off to read some more of your archives to inspire tomorrow's sewing :o)
ReplyDeleteNow your brother can quit pouting, right!! The other 5 may be jealous even. Great quilt, Amanda!!
