I'm setting out to make 101 projects out of scraps.
(Yes, I'm serious!)
I'm planning to document them here.
I have no idea how long it will take.
But I am super excited.
I certainly have the scraps for it...and then some!
Here's my first project of the series....a little needle book.
It finishes at 2 3/4" x 3 1/8".
I think I've squealed over this thing 100 times.
Of course I used red and white polka dots for the lining.
The pages are just a bit of leftover batting.
The elastic band previously held a pair of shoes together.
(What can I say? I love re-using little bits.)
I'm really looking forward to the next 100 projects!
Wow can't wait to see what you come up with....
ReplyDeleteThis should be such fun. You are so inspiring. Will the Mini Nines count toward your 101?
ReplyDeleteOhhh what a great idea! I can't wait to see more projects. . as this one is grand!
ReplyDeleteFor a woman who seems to only ever work with scraps, I find it amazing that you have any left. :) But I'm glad you do, because I love seeing what you do with them.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! What a great idea, too! It's always so hard to get myself to use up scraps :) can't wait to see what else you make!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable! I seriously need one of those! :-) You must must must tell us who makes that text fabric?
ReplyDeleteMy Sew Imperfect Life,
ReplyDeleteThe text fabric is Hometown by Sweetwater for Moda.

I'm looking forward to the next 100 too!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Maybe you can add a section to your blog header where folks can easily access the 101 projects. I'd love to keep a page like this bookmarked on my computer!
ReplyDeleteIf you also need some suggestions for projects, let us know! Mug rugs, potholders, mini wallets, pouches, key rings, rag rugs, etc...the possibilities are endless!
Really looking forward to seeing everything you do. I adore scraps!!

AJ

What a fun challenge! Next you need to make the little business card holder Jodi Nelson did - it's a freebie on Craftsy. It would match your needle case perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I need to do something similar for all those tiny scraps I can't seem to part with.
ReplyDeleteI love you. You make me laugh! I should use up some of my scraps too. My scrap basket(s) overfloweth.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! You are officially taking crazy to a whole new level ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! Always inspiring Amanda. Thankyou
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I LOVE using up my scraps for little bitty projects...it's always a challenge to find the right 'scrap' instead of cutting into something 'new'. I think I just might have to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, gorgeous and inspiring! Thanks for sharing. Marie
ReplyDeleteLove Scrap #1! Sounds like a book project to me. . .
ReplyDeletesounds like a great idea for a book!
ReplyDeleteI love your new challenge! Such a great way to use up your scraps. We will all be watching. And hey, maybe there would be a new book in the offering :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I'm sure u could make 1001 projects with your scraps. :) I love needle books, though like pin cusions I have yet to make one. Shame! It's in my to do list though.

ReplyDeletetink's mom,
ReplyDeleteIf I finish the mini nines before I hit 101, yes it will count. That being said, I am kind of doubtful it will happen. :)

ReplyDeleteI love scraps and am looking forward to watching you make 101 things. I have already made the little pin keepers with my scraps and gave lots of them for gifts. Maybe I will be able to use some your ideas to use up my scraps. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I can't wait to see the other 100 projects too. I've been thinking about quilt bombing some trees like people have yarn bombed public spaces. That would surely get rid of some of my scraps! ;0
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see the next 100! Your creativity is inspiring and I, too, am a fanatic for scraps. LOVE the wee needle book!
ReplyDeleteAdorable...very squeal worthy!!!

Great idea I shall enjoy watching your progress
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I should try to talk my wife into tackling just the same... even though we barely started quiltmaking in January, we're already head over heels in scraps.

ReplyDeleteIs there a book in here, I just love my Sunday Morning Quilts and am working my way through it. A volume of small projects would compliment it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteInteresting -- can't wait for the next 99 too!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I have scraps to try to use down. This would be perfect. I might start with this project but add more pages to the book inside. Very cute. Love it. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteFawn
Now I know where the "crazy" comes from in your blog name! Sound like a lot of fun and very inspiring
ReplyDeleteI love this little book, can't wait to see what you come up with next!
ReplyDeleteLooks great and what a nice challenge!
ReplyDeleteThis will be great fun to watch!
ReplyDeleteCute! I need to make some of these for friends.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to all the cute ideas you come up with. What a great challenge. Looking forward to each and every one. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun series! I can't wait to see them all. I love that even the elastic was salvaged!
ReplyDelete101 projects or 101 different projects, 'cause at first I thought you meant 101 things and that impressed me, but if you intend to make 101 different things then WHOA!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little needlebook. Wow I am really looking forward to the next 100 things made from scraps.... Have FUN!!
ReplyDeleteI just made a needle book today myself!
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea! I hope to follow along.
ReplyDeleteI need to make myself one of these! Thanks for the inspiration and I look forward to seeing what else you make with your scraps. Tow years ago I made a queen sized zig zag quilt out of my scraps and I didn't even put a dent into my scrap pile! I have a lot of scraps!
ReplyDeleteAmanda this is a great idea. Hy not provide a link so others can share their scrappy projects too
ReplyDeleteThe needle book is super cute! And what a great idea - I've got loads of scraps building up, can't wait to see what you come up with! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I don't have that many scraps, being a newish quilter, but I'd love to join you on your journey. The needle case is just so sweet, and just what I could do with right now, so I'm off to make one!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI may have to join you on this. My scrap buckets are overflowing. I love the needle book. I have made these before. The scrap version would be very cute to include in monthly 'bee' mailings. I think I'll make a stash to have on hand.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see all your 101 projects. I'm secretly hoping you'll be putting some tutorials up too, because I'm a compulsive hoarder and have so many scraps. Everyone always laughs at me not throwing any of them out, but I tell you - some of those scraps have come in soooo handy!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, looking forward to seeing them all :)
Great idea. Looking forward to your upcoming posts for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love little projects .....looking forward to this!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a great idea, I can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteWOW 101 projects? That is a very ambitious undertaking! I absolutely love your little needle keeper, and I look forward to seeing what else you come up with. Sounds like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteGrace
Book marked your page...I love scraps...although I usually make large quilts with them. I'd love to see smaller projects...This is very exciting!
ReplyDeletePlease post the patterns! That would've awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe needlebook is adorable, but I'd like to suggest having a few "pages". I use a variety of needles for a variety of purposes (quilting, embroidery, hand sewing, etc.) My needlebook as a page for each time with the name written across the "page". Much more practical.
ReplyDeleteSweet needle book for Project #1 and jump ahead now to Project #101 ~ Your Plenty of Pineapples Quilt! You accomplished your goal Beautifully!! You should be very proud of yourself! You did an amazing job!! Hugs :)
