I'm working on a new project. It's blue & green, scrappy, and I'm using 2.5" squares. ALL my favorites rolled into one!
I'm intrigued at how different things look on point (these totally remind me of pot holders for some reason)....
compared to a straight setting. Which do you like better? Not sure where this is going to end up yet, but I started pulling out background options from the stash....
coal gray....mmm. i like it!
brown polka dot...it would almost work, but too busy.
sprout green....very nice. I think I would really like how some of the green squares would match and kind of fade into the background.
latte...it's a lovely color, but nope! well...maybe?
silvery grey...very possible.
Like I said, I don't have a clear vision for this quilt yet...but I do have a few layout options I'm mulling over. It's very fun to be playing and watching it come together bit by bit.
And as an aside, it was totally entertaining to pin partial bolts of fabric to my design wall and take photos. All in a day's "work" when you are a blogger. :)
You're having fun!
ReplyDeleteAll kinds of pretty fun!
I like the Diamond style and the sprout green works best I think =D
ReplyDeleteDiamond style with the silvery grey or green.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the border fabric, but I definitely like an on point setting. I'd probably pick the green or a blue, but I like bright colors better, so that's probably just me. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the on-point, and the GREEN is perfect I think! How about squares of the green the same size of the 16-patches and all on-point?
ReplyDeleteLove the sprout green!
ReplyDeleteI like the coal gray!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sherie and I also like that a few of the outside greens will blend in with your sprout green.......that is a cool effect that I like. Yep on point with that lovely green.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing
The blocks are so cute and I think that they look beautiful with the sprout green!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like Karin's idea a few comments up. The green is perfect and separating the patch blocks with same size blocks of green would look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMGM
My vote's for the coal! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the sprout green or even a lighter shade of green as the background! I think it will turn out lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the sprout green, and I love the blocks square (not on point). Maybe green sashing?
ReplyDeleteI like the green too!!!
ReplyDeleteIt has my vote!!
I like the sprout green too!
ReplyDeleteIf you're taking a vote, I'd vote for the green!
ReplyDeleteI love the sprout green and on point
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be different and say that I really liked the white and on point, but I'm a sucker for brights on white anyway, so I have a bit of prejudice. (The sprout green is my 2nd favorite.)
ReplyDeleteI am outnumbered here, but I like the silvery gray and the blocks straight, but spaced further apart. Whatever you choose, it will be beautiful. Greens and blues are my fav, too!
ReplyDeleteIronically I had a dear bride to be pull all the greens and blues from my stash for a wedding quilt. I am completely stumped on what to make. I like your blocks on point. :0)
ReplyDeleteon point and sprout green would be my choice!!!
ReplyDeleteI like both layouts with the green...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove love LOVE the sprout green! Whether on point or just a regular layout, I think it will look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI the idea of the blocks straight, but spaced un evenly and random. With either the Coal or Sprout Green. Can't wait to see what you decide.
ReplyDeleteI love auditioning fabric, too! :) I really like the two grays you pulled.
ReplyDeleteExcited to see where you go with this. Have you thought about using one block of a completely different color combo? Like a pink and red one or something? Don't know of that speaks to you but I know it's fun hearing people's ideas. :)
I love the on-point setting, and that sprout green is gorgeous! But they're all really pretty!! You're having so much fun playing, I can tell!!
ReplyDeleteOn-point with the polka dots..but that's just my two cents worth!
ReplyDeleteI love it on point. It's more interesting. The color depends on what feel you are after. I like the dark gray for a cooler modern feel. The sprout green is gorgeous if you are going for a light airy feel.
ReplyDeletei like the Sprout Green the best. It looks like a fun spring quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great exercise - and what fun! I know whatever way you decide to do it will be great, but it was very cool to peek at your design process. Thanks so much - keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteMy vote would be to have the blocks on point, with either the coal or silvery grey for background fabric.
ReplyDeleteAww blue and green my favorite color combination. The blocks are beautiful. Love that sprout green and yes some of the squares as that too! By the way, I purchased and read your book cover to cover! :)
ReplyDeleteLove blue and green. Think the silver grey or sprout green look great with the blocks on point.
ReplyDeleteHands down on point (ok, I might have issues with on point, as in I LOVE it...). Like the grey, like the silver, digging the sprout green, but out of loyalty I must say latte (latte=coffee and coffee always wins...LOL). All of that said, it will be awesome, I know these things.
ReplyDeleteI'd go with the sprout and on point...lovely blocks in my favorite coors!
ReplyDeleteI like the dark coal gray if the blocks are straight and the light green if they're on point!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, point would win for me. Colors are harder. I like the silver, green and coal but now sure which I like best. I'm glad I don't have to choose!
ReplyDeleteI like the sprout green and coal grey. Two very different looks and both very beautiful. -Little Mama Hen
ReplyDeleteLooks like my vote is the same as many: Sprout Green, Silver Grey then Coal. But the real answer is: Whatever you like best.
ReplyDeleteI like the on point and I think A polka dot would be nice but not that one. A smaller one even in black would be good. Would really set off all of the individual squares.
ReplyDeletePretty colors.
ReplyDeleteI like the green too.
Love the squares on point with the sprout green. A good leaders and enders project. Now you have my brain hopping. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes!!!! Green looks best :)
ReplyDeleteblue green,,,,,,for sure,,,,,,,,,love your quilt,
ReplyDeleteSprout green for sure! With white on white in between the blocks. A quilt cannot have too much white. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI think sprout green wins hands down! Go for it, girl!
ReplyDeleteI agree with those that said green. It looks like it was made to go with those squares. I like both layouts. I'm mostly a straight across kind of gal but sometimes a nice diagonal works.
ReplyDeleteSprout green on point!
ReplyDeleteI like the blocks on a straight line. I like the sprout or one of the blues.... I even like the dots
ReplyDeleteSprout green really sets the colors off.
ReplyDeleteGo green!!
ReplyDeleteP
if on point, sprout green. if set square, then i'd use the charcoal. lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a fan of the green.. but I don't hate the grey either.. hmm. Either one would look so gorgeous with the blocks.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are pretty!!
ReplyDeleteI think one option would be in white but your options, I prefer gray coal and diamond style.
GREEN. I love the idea of the green. My favourite colour.
ReplyDeleteI prefer diamonds and the green.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for diamonds and green - lovely and springlike!
ReplyDeleteI love the sprout green and point on point. The idea of doing green squares as fillers sounds brilliant too. Look forward to seeing your finished quilt and what you finally decide!
ReplyDeleteI have just got your new book and love it. As a very new quilter I hadn't thought about using up the scraps, but now I can't wait to try.
It's amazing how much the accent fabric can change the look of the whole quilt!! Can't wait to see what you come up with. :)
ReplyDeleteCheers!

I like sprout green and silvery gray. I like on point, but I don't know that I would put solid blocks between them. Of course, whatever you end up doing will be lovely. That is guaranteed.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see a picture of one with white :) I like the points!
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving your blocks with the sprout green!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product. I like the silvery gray BTW.
ReplyDeleteI like the polka dot! :) Maybe on point with a blue/green polka dot. I kinda crush on polka dots. :) So fun!
ReplyDeleteI like it on point and love the green or coal gray best! Such soothing shades :-)
ReplyDeleteSilver grey!
ReplyDeleteI like how it looks with the sprout green :)
ReplyDeleteI like the on point better for these. The green and gray were both very nice! How 'bout a super, super light blue? (I see the background blue on an L.L. Bean quilt I saw recently) At any rate...it looks like lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteLoving the sprout green (spring!), but would probably do a thin white frame on each block to avoid the fade-away issue.
Whatever you do, it's going to be a happy quilt!
I think the coal gray looks the best, but that's only my opinion. What about white, it seems to go with brights, pastels, and so many other colors? Whatever you pick will turn out to be a lovely quilt, you always have a winner. Love your blog! Cynthia
ReplyDeleteI vote for on point with coal or silvery gray!! Looks great so far!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a vote and my vote actually counted for something, which it doesn't because it is your quilt and you can totally do whatever you want...I would go with on-point and green. I also think the first picture looks like pot holders. Growing up we always hung them from a loop and they would dangle on the wall like that. Oh the good ole days!!!
ReplyDeleteOn point & coal gray for me. You asked. But I am sure it will be very nice whatever way you go. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the coal. Whatever you choose, however, I have no doubt it will be amazing. It always amazes me how blocks change from straight setting to on point. With my Farmer's Wife blocks, some need to be one way, some the other. So I'm going to use an alternate setting so hopefully all the wives will be happy.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is on point with either green or silver grey. ;) whatever you choose, I know it will be gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteLots of great choices...looking forward to seeing what you go with. Smiles~Beth
ReplyDeleteMy vote is on sprout green. I just love this color. So many lovely ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteOn point with the sprout green!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the sprout green border - really balances out the blue! Either setting, just depends if you have something special to put in the white blocks if you set on point Have Fun!
ReplyDeleteI really like the on point layout and the bright green looks so Spring-like. I also love that you are making blocks with no idea where you are going. Seems to be my current way of quilting.
ReplyDeleteFor these blocks, I like them straight. But I love postage stamp quilts, so..... I think I like the first color for borders. But they all look good and you'll do something awesome with any one of them!
ReplyDeleteSprout green gives it that "pop" and I like the silvery color too.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty blocks. You do such great work... every time.
Green is first choice. Gray is second. On point is definitely more interesting and eye catching!
ReplyDeleteWonderful spring color blocks which is why I prefer the green background. Also I like them straight. Cant wait to see how you will work your magic on this quilt:)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like the silvery gray and the sprout green, maybe sashed with one and bound/bordered with the other? Some of my favorite colors, too! Love the blocks on point, particularly. :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda - I like them on point with the green for background. very nice color combination.
ReplyDeleteThe green is fun, whichever setting, both are beautiful. And I do just have to chime in, there is something very fun about the polka dots idea (coordinates with the ones in your squares), maybe---smaller dots, as was said already. I love the project, nice work as always!!
ReplyDeletesurprising myself, but I'm really digging on that sprout green.
ReplyDeleteThe green and blue remind me of the ocean breeze tumbler quilt I made for Anita's birthday.
ReplyDeleteThe green or grey is my vote. I don't usually like on point but I don't mind it here. If you did it straight put the green in-between and use the grey for your background. You really are amazing by the way. I am a wannabe quilter. I have done a couple of table runners to get me started.
ReplyDeleteI like the on point with the spout green and I like the silvery gray. but I like the polka dot with the blocks but not on point. It may be busy but something about it draws me to it. Good luck. I know it will look great with whatever you choose
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love the blues and greens together. I think the silvery gray is my favorite. Good luck with the tough decision :-D
ReplyDeleteDifferent size of fabrics are stitch with each other and make it so beautiful.Colorful designs are so attractive.
