I'm probably the LAST blogger in the world to make this block. In case I am wrong about that, you can find the template for this block here. ;) Christina has a great tutorial on how to make it here. I've seen so many beautiful versions of it around blogland and flickr, it was only a matter of time before I had to take a stab at it myself. You know what? It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Hurray! Maybe I'm finally getting the hang of paper piecing. :)
Did you see the block Melinda made last week for the Fancy Block Friday challenge? I LOVE it! (ha!) I really do!
Your block came out beautifully! It's so precise, and I love the color wheely thingoo effect.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for pointing out where to find instructions for this -- I want to try it myself someday. :)
I have never made that block either! It is on my need to try list, so I will get to it eventually.:) Yours turned out beautifully! I love the shades of green and blue. I can't believe that background took a whole fat quarter!
ReplyDeletethis is one of my favorite blocks you have done.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made it! I can't believe it eats a whole fat quarter. Wowee! That's one hungry block.
ReplyDeleteYou aren't the LAST person to make this block...guess who can't paper piece yet??? It is, however, my favorite paper pieced block!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great block and you did a great job with it. I haven't made it either!
ReplyDeleteOh my! That is stunning. I haven't tried it or even seen it, but I'm fairly new to blogland. Now I have to go get the template and check out the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Deborah
I still haven't made this one either. I have the print outs in my desk just waiting. Yours is beautiful. Love the solids. Paper piecing does chew up the fabric. But I guess it's worth it because everything matches up perfectly. I have a love hate relationship with traditional PP. I prefer the freezer paper method. http://whynotsew.blogspot.com/2011/04/drafting-your-own-paper-pieced-pattern.html I don't waste as much fabric and I love that!
ReplyDeleteLove your block.....it really isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I have made 20 in blues and white. I may have to add borders to my blocks, then it maybe closer to a king size. Have a great weekend.♥
ReplyDeleteLove it! I may actually try it since it's paper-pieced ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are the next to last person to make that block. It is on my list for this summer. Yours is terrific.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we have enough to start a sew-along group for this block for those who haven't made it yet, me included. Yours turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI haven't made this yet either. I started to do it last week but after sewing one section realized I didn't have enough of the same white fabric and the rest was thinner and sure didn't look good with the Bella white I started with....oh well....one day!:)
ReplyDeleteI love this block and you did a great job. I need to try it!
ReplyDeleteI love your version of this block - your color choices are spot on!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning block! You have created such a serene palette, i love it. Makes me feel peaceful and happy just looking at it. Very impressed :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I haven't made that block but it is now on my long 'to make' list. Maybe it will be my first ever paper piecing project! Smiles~beth
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! Paper piecing does eat chunks of fabric but in your case it also feeds your scrap buckets. In addition it gets easier to strategically use smaller and smaller pieces of fabric and still get the coverage you need. I promise!
ReplyDeleteI have NOT tried this and I have been admiring these blocks, too. I just may try it sometime soon. Thanks for the tutorial link.
ReplyDeleteyour fancy block is fantastic! i haven't made this block yet, but i will be in the next week or two. maybe we can just copycat back and forth :)
ReplyDeleteI printed the template long ago but keep chickening out when it comes to starting it. Yours turned out very pretty and the border looks like it was supposed to be there.
ReplyDeleteI love your block, too! So clean, so crisp. Reminds me of the ocean - so many different colors of blue and green.

I haven't tried one so clearly you aren't the last blogger :-) Yours looks fantastic! I need to try it out but it just scares me!
ReplyDeleteThat is simply beautiful! But, I'm with you on the eating fabric.
ReplyDeleteyou're not the last, it's me ;)
ReplyDeleteI immediately printed the template and hopefully will start on it soon.
I love your block BECAUSE of the border. I think it's really finishing it. Thanks for sharing.
You're not the last to make the block. I printed out the template a long time ago. Sins I did'nt make the block the same day the template went missing....
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link, this time I will/shall make it.
I love the colours in your block, and I like that you added an border to it.
Take care!
I love this block and the colours. I have never seen this block before. Great tutorial and I linked it to my blog. Many Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHey babe, don't talk so fast.....ding-dong here has never made this block either, although it IS one of my very favorite! I suppose I should try to learn to paper piece, huh?
ReplyDeleteNo, not the last blogger. It is on my list of to do's too! I love yours!
ReplyDeleteYou are not the last- I might be until I get over my paper piecing fear! :) Yours looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou're not the last. I haven't made it either. Yours is perfect, so precise.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made it either. I will someday, and that someday being whenever we buy new ink cartridges for our printer, the both ran out at the same time, how does that happen?
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI made one of these blocks a few weeks ago. The first attempt, I was trying to trim the seam allowances and accidently cut off an entire piece. Oops! But it was easier the second time. I want to make another one just like you did using all shades of the same color. I think it would be neat to make a rainbow quilt with one circle of each color. (That is years away though :) )
ReplyDeleteOh I have wanted to try one of these for so long. Thank you for those great links.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with this circle of geese block. I found a photo of this block several months ago but could not find the pattern so I printed a copy of the block and traced the pattern. It was the FIRST time I had ever paper pieced a block. If you look at my blog you can see how I made the first one WRONG and the second one RIGHT. here is the link!

Printed out the pattern and the tutorial you linked to... this is one that I definitely have to try! I haven't paper pieced in years! Thanks for the inspiration to try again!
ReplyDeleteRest easy, I've not made this one yet, even though I have a couple people have done for me in swaps
ReplyDeleteI think it's lovely :)
ReplyDeleteAnd really, if you're the last or the first, your block is still so AmandaJean :)
lol Seems there are plenty of us who haven't made that block. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this - a great block
ReplyDeleteThat block sure does eat fabric, doesn't it! :) It looks beautiful and will be perfect as a miniquilt!
ReplyDeleteI haven't made it either although I am so in love with it. I've got it bookmarked and one day... Love yours!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not the last person to try it. I'm still working up to paper piecing, but it DOES look so good!
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty, cool rainbow! I love it.
ReplyDeletePretty! love it ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL! The amount of fabric that paper piecing uses is heresy, I tell ya! It probably goes against every fibre of your being, doesn't it AJ? But the results? The results are so worth it imo! Great block!
ReplyDeleteThis block is great! I don't know how to work with triangles just yet though so I don't even know how you did it but I love it.
ReplyDeleteNaw, you're not the last person in blogland to make this block. That would be me. Yours look so gorgeous that I'm adding this to my "must sew" list. ;o)
